In a galaxy far far away, there is a small board game cafe called Jumping Clay. It’s mission to spread the hobby where no geek has gone before. Distanced thousands of miles away from any decent gaming convention, captain Mitko and first officer Mile organize gaming nights every Monday so people like me can enjoy their hobby.
J.C. is located on the second floor of a city mall Global in a town called Strumica (Macedonia), where the only commonly known games to the general public are chess, backgammon and monopoly. But not in J.C. Here we play everything from light games like Touché, Ticket to Ride and Dixit up to heavy euros like Scythe and Brass: Lancashire. Although our gaming group is small the members are faithful and show up every Monday, sometimes even in other days.
Everyone is welcome there are no strict rules unless we are playing one of Goran’s games in which case no chips or nachos are allowed and you can only rest your drink on the bar far away from the table (Which is rule that I support).
Although playing games is our primary directive we organize other events like play testing prototypes, making un-boxing videos and off course gaming tournaments. Here are some pictures of our first Ticked to ride tournament:
During day time J.C. is also a place where parents can take their children and spend some quality time, engaging them in creative entertainment by making their favorite cartoon characters out of special clay, kind of like play doh. However, it can also be used to pimp up your favorite games by making colorful game pieces and resources, pretty neat yes? 🙂
Another important thing about J.C. which I saved for last is that, it was here that meet the Manchers was first playtested, and the feedback that I’ve gathered helped me a lot to make it what it is today. I’m very grateful to all the participants in this project, and hope that this would be the first of many games to come by Devanchi Games.
